Ways to Get Involved
1 - Teaching Life Skills
God has given each of us gifts and talents for us to use in the lives of others and if you would like to share those talents, we would love to have you. Some of those areas are:
- sewing
- cooking
- computer skills
- photography
- organizing
- parenting
- first aid/cpr
- crafts
- nutrition
- childbirth
- Bible studies
- arts
- budgeting
- job skills
- home safety
- fitness training
- ...and many more
2 - Fill-in House Parent
Arrange in advance to give the House Director some relief time, or just be there to assist her. Sierra House is open 24/7, so we would love to have you volunteer your time.
3 - Meal Preparations
Cooking and teaching the young ladies in our program how to cookk is ver important. We would love to have you assist in the process.
4 - Transportation
We are in need of people to transport our birth mothers to doctor's appointments, classes, church, and jobs. They currently use public transportation, but it would be nice for them to have a break from that every once in a while.
5 - Adopt a Guest Mom
Having each birth mother have a friend/mentor while they are with us is an important part of our program. They have very limited support from family and friends and will appreciate all the love and attention you have to give. This is an area you will be blessed from also.
6 - Prayer
Becoming a prayer parent is bein assigned to pray for a specific birth mother. You commit to pray for them daily and contact them at least one time weekly to ask for prayer requests and praises. This encourages them to be directed to a Godly life for themselves and their baby. (Also committing to pray for our ministry in general would be greatly appreciated.)
7 - Donations
We would love any donations of items for our moms and babies. Items greatly needed are:
- diapers (sizes N, 1, 2)
- wipes
- bath items
- baby blankets
- new (or gently used) clothes
- formula (milk or soy-based)
- onesies
- car seats
- portable cribs
- strollers
- maternity clothes
- ...or any other items you find to be useful
8 - Administration and Fund-raising Support
Regular up-keep with filing, phone calls, newsletters, and record keeping, plus planning and executing fund-raisers are needed. The home has benefited from the Baby Bottle Boomerang program, but it isn't enoubh. The Baby Bottle program is going to churches and supplying them with baby bottles to fill with money and loose change. If you are itnerested in having this program at your church or have any other fundraising ideas or support, please let us know. We also provide tax deductible receipts for financial donations as well as cars and other private property gifts.

Volunteers / Mentors
At Love Them Both we appreciate our volunteers/mentors greatly. We know you have many ways to spend your time and talents and we are so excited you decided to spend them investing in the lives of the birth mothers here. We want you to know you are a special part of our program and a vital and important link to the community for our birth mothers. You also come as a tremendous relief for our house parents. We honestly can't thank you enough.
Our volunteers must:
- Be committed to the pro-life perspective.
- Be of good character.
- Have a strong and vital belief in Jesus Christ and believe in the Bible as the Word of God.
- Become familiar with house rules and regulations, and hold to them.
As a volunteer you will become an important part of these young ladies' lives and futures. You will be helping them in their decision making, planning for the future, and overall well being. You will also be assisting the birth mothers in developing social skills and providing additional support for them. Some of these young ladies will share with you information about themselves and we kindly ask for you to keep that information confidential. The only time to break that confidentiality would be in the event that it would cause harm to any individual. A list of confidentiality guidelines will be given to you.
Aside from all of these guidelines, pray for these young ladies. They need much love and attention which requires much prayer and patience. Just being someone who listens to them is such an encouragement to them. If you ever have any questions or if a situation arises you are unsure of, we are available to help.
